From His Messenger

I just didn’t have it in me to write a column. I came across the below article, and it spoke to me. Rather than “one of those kinda days,” as he explains – for me, “one of those kinda few weeks” so far. It’s been rough. I lost the largest, long term advertiser, which means there isn’t enough revenue to cover expenses. I am working over a hundred hours a week now at various jobs to try to keep this going. I am exhausted, weary, and fearful. I realize these aren’t of God – and am struggling to get past it. Because of this, I felt it best to forgo my column for this article instead. Please keep me and The Messenger in your prayers. I KNOW there are people out there that God is calling to support this ministry. Please call and place your ads today to assure we can continue to reach others for Christ.

Finding Hope in Hopeless Days

By Jason Soroski

Today is starting off as one of ‘those’ days. You know what I mean. Days when the odds seem to be solidly stacking against you, leaving little room for hope as you strive to jump through the required hoops, only to find more hoops waiting on the other side, with no end in sight. Days when the needs are great and the resources to fill the needs are…not as great. Days when all the cars need some work, the spirit needs some work, and it would be great to just have a do-over and start this whole thing from another angle.

Days like this can be best summed up as playing a game of whack-a-mole without a mallet. On these days that it feels like I am just standing here watching the moles pop up and taunt me until I finally make a clumsy attempt to beat a few down with the back of my fist, ending up with nothing but a bruised hand. Accomplishing nothing, spinning my wheels, looking for a sign of hope.

Yep, today is one of those days.

It is on days like this that my mind eventually makes it way to Lamentations 3.

Verses 21 -23 are the best known verses of this chapter, and are certainly encouraging words,”Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: 22 Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. 23 They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness”.

Great is Your faithfulness.  There’s even a song about that, but on some days I’m just not feeling it. That’s why context is so important. What makes verses 21-23 truly encouraging to me is that they follow verses 1-20:

“I am the man who has seen affliction” (v.1)

“darkness rather than light” (v.2)

“He has made my skin and my flesh grow old and has broken my bones.” (v.4)

“bitterness and hardship” (v. 5)

“like those long dead” (v.6)

“I cannot escape” (v.7)

“he shuts out my prayer” (v.8)

You get the idea, so we’ll stop there. Truth is, this pretty much describes how I feel on ‘one of those days.’  Maybe I’m being a bit melodramatic, but in the moment that realize we feel lost and helpless, these are the emotions that quickly well up and seem to block out hope. And without hope we truly are lost.

Yet this I call to mind.  And therefore I have hope.

Today is one of those days. Today is starting out as a v. 1-20 kinda day.  And that is alright, as long as it swings around to being a verse 21-23 kinda day, because that is the turning point of the chapter, and that is the turning point of a lousy day. What makes the change? The knowledge that God is good, and our circumstances are not the end.  Jesus told us that, “in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). This is exactly the kind of reassurance that gets us through these rough days.

After this declaration, there is a marked turn in the chapter. The verses that come after this climax of hope at verses 21-23 sound much different than the one before:

“The Lord is my portion, therefore I will wait for him.” (v.24)

“The Lord is good to those whose hope is in Him” (v.25)

“For no one is cast off by the Lord forever” (v.31)

“he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.” (v.32)

“I called on your name, Lord, from the depths of the pit. 56 You heard my plea” (v.55-56)

“You came near when I called on you and you said, ‘Do not fear!’” (v.57)

“You, Lord, took up my case; you redeemed my life.” (v.58)

You get the idea, so we’ll stop there. Ultimately, God does not stop bad things from happening to good people. Sometimes they are a result of our own decisions, sometimes not, but that is just part of living this life on earth. On those days when things seem out of our control, that is probably because they are. Yet we have hope, because we are assured that He is still in full control. Whatever this day holds in store, I’m determined to look at it through the lens of hope that is promised even in the most difficult of situations. God is good. God is love. God is peace, God is kindness, God is goodness mercy and compassion.

This I call to mind.  And therefore I have hope.

For those of you who mail things to The Messenger, please be sure to make note of our new mailing address: P.O. Box 961272, El Paso, TX 79996. This location is much closer to my home. The people there are much friendlier, shorter wait times when I have to stand in line for anything, and prompter service. And, best part of all – the cost for the same size box is nearly half the price! Please make note of the change – but, in case you forget – the address is always in the upper left hand corner.

****

I have a HUGE request. Please, be in prayer for all our advertisers. Along with blessings for their health, families, etc. – pray the Lord will bless their businesses and cause them to prosper even during these tough economic times. Consider sending them a note or card thanking them for supporting this ministry. It takes revenue from advertising to cover expenses to produce each issue. We are in difficult times, and in great need of other businesses, churches or individuals to partner with us by supporting financially through their advertising.

If you enjoy this paper and are in a position to place advertising – won’t you please consider supporting the ministry? We desperately need the help of others to continue to reach the communities we serve from El Paso to Las Cruces to the North, and out to Fabens to the East for the kingdom of God. Please pray about it, and contact me if you can help.

****

Precious Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Your provision through the past nine-plus years. Thank You for the advertisers who have supported this ministry over the years. I pray Father that You bless each of them abundantly. Bless their health, families, and relationships. Cause their businesses to prosper because of their support of this ministry. As they prosper, may they continue to bless this ministry with their financial support.

I ask Father that You also bless everyone that has had anything to do with supporting this ministry – those who distribute the paper, anyone who has submitted articles, the Pastors who submit responses to ASK questions, and all the readers – if not for them there would be no reason for the paper. I lift up all those who read that do not yet have You in their heart, as their Savior. I pray that this paper continues to play part in reaching them to explore and seek You out. I pray they accept You and begin the most important relationship in their lives.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

There was no room for my column in this issue.

from January 26, 2017

This issue prints and begins distributing on the evening of the Presidential Inauguration. Thus, the purpose of the story on the cover. Regardless of if you are a Republican or Democrat, or voted for Donald Trump or not – I hope that everyone will be praying for our President, Congress and Senate. Whether we agree with them or not – they need our prayers for guidance, and safety.

****

I hope you’ll all pay close attention to the GET INVOLVED box at the upper right side of this page. Rescue Ministries of Mexico is a non-profit that survives on donations to support an orphanage, teen shelter, elderly shelter and men’s rehab facility in Juarez as well as an orphanage in Madera, MX. All those in their facilities are either abandoned, abused, or otherwise unable to help and provide for themselves. We are so blessed, even those of us who believe ourselves poor. We have our homes, with heat in the winter, cool air in the summer; running water, food in the fridge and pantry. Because of Rescue Ministries the people they help have these things also, but they can’t provide for so many without our help. Please pray about how you can help – and plan to get involved and donate items from the list that will be provided each month.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for Your love, mercy and grace. For always being there for us and with us through all of life’s trials and struggles.

Father I lift up our new President and all our leaders. I pray for guidance in all they do as they govern our Nation. I pray they will seek Your will and follow as You lead them. I pray safety over all our leaders and their families. I lift up this great country of ours Father and thank You that we get to live in this home of the free and the brave! Protect our country, our people. I pray that things will get better, that more businesses will open, more jobs will be created and our Nation can become more prosperous. I hope so much there will be less homelessness, that there will be more help for those who can’t help themselves. Father I pray You touch the lives of those who need jobs, homes, medical attention, etc. Provide their needs.

I lift up The Messenger Father and ask that You lead me to those who are able to and would be willing to support through their advertising.

In Jesus Name,

AMEN

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I pray that 2017 brings much peace, good health, love and happiness to each one of us. If you are one who makes new year resolutions, I pray the Lord provides you the ability to follow through with them through the year.

****

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my mom, June McCullough on the 14. I wish we could be together – either you here or me there – so we could celebrate and share your special day. I hope it is a beautiful day, and you get to share it with others. I pray the Lord continues to bless you, protect you, keep you safe, happy and healthy.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for being our Abba Father, our Protector, and Provider. Thank You for being available 24/7 to hear us in our times of sorrow, need, pain and joy, happiness and worship. Help us to more fully put our trust and dependence in You, and to refrain from trying to do things in our own strength. Over the years, I have learned more each year that I can do nothing in my own strength – that it is in You and through You only that I can accomplish anything that I have.

Father as we begin this New Year of 2017 I pray that each one reading will find themselves, including myself, drawing nearer to You, seeking You, and enjoying a deeper relationship and walk with You.

I pray Father that You bless each person that reads The Messenger – may they always find things within the pages of each issue that speaks to their hearts, blesses them in some way, and brings the closer to You. I pray that in 2017 the readers who follow this regularly that do not yet have a relationship with You as their Savior – this will be the year, this will be the time – that they make the most important decision of their lives.

Lord as You are aware, 2016 was the most difficult year yet for The Messenger financially. I still feel Your call for the paper to continue – therefore, I ask Father that You lead me to the financial means in which to do so. Advertisers are needed to cover the expenses to keep this ministry going. Send them to me, or lead me to them. Bless each one that has supported this ministry – especially those who continue to do so faithfully, month after month and year after year. I cannot do this with my own strength, power or financial ability. I need You in all things, and the paper needs financial support from committed believers who also want to reach the communities we serve to spread Your Word and further Your kingdom.

I love You Lord and I thank You for continuing to use me in this capacity to serve in this ministry. Please renew me, strengthen me, rejuvenate my ability to serve in this way.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my Daddy (12/12) in Heaven. I can’t believe my Daddy has been gone 51 years. He missed out on so much of life, having died at just 32 years old. And we, the family, have missed out on so much of what life would have been like with him in it. I didn’t grow up knowing what it was like having a daddy to love and care for you. I hate how that affected me, and I hate that my children and grandchildren never got to know him, or him to know them. I was told so many times as a youngster that something good comes out of all things – I have yet to discover what good came out of not having my Daddy. But, now that I am grown, I can know and appreciate that he knew Jesus, therefore – where he is now is a much better place. However, I can’t help but grieve even still now, and wish there could have been a life with him in it. My hope is in Christ Jesus, and I know that when my time on this earth is over I will reside with Him in Heaven, therefore, I will also see my Daddy again. Thank You Jesus for that knowledge and the gift of Salvation that makes that possible.

****

MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all. I pray that each of you have a very blessed Christmas time with family and friends. And may we all never forgot the real meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate this day. Jesus, the Christ child was sent here as just a baby to teach and then die for the sins of us all. He did so gladly with the desire for every one of us to accept Him, walk with Him, have a relationship with Him, and then to have eternal life with Him. Be sure to ponder on this fact during your Christmas celebration, and to tell others around you to do so. So many of our loved ones don’t know Jesus as their Savior. We never know the time or hour that we or someone we love may draw our last breath. Make sure that all those you love know and understand what is needed to have everlasting life with Christ. That would be the best gift you could give someone, so that they could find the best gift of all – Salvation – that only Christ alone can give.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You Lord for sending Your Son, Jesus to be born as a baby to be the Savior of the world. Thank You for all You have done for me, my family, and The Messenger. Thank You for Your unconditional love, mercy and grace. Most importantly, for Your gift of Salvation – and that I can know that one day I will reside with You forever.

Father I lift up all those who are suffering illness or grief at this Christmas season. Touch their bodies, hearts, minds and souls. Help them to feel Your presence and have no doubt You are there with and for them at all times. I lift up those who don’t know You and pray that someone will cross their paths during this time and share what Christmas is truly all about, and that they will accept the best Christmas gift ever – Jesus as their Savior.

Help me Father to be the instrument You want to do Your work. Give me strength and ability to continue on in all I do.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my son, Shawne!  I hope our schedules mesh at some point so I can spend time with you for your special day. I love you my boy!

****

I hope everyone reading had a blessed Thanksgiving. I certainly did. My daughter and her family came in from the Houston area and stayed with me for a week. Multiple times while they were here I got to have her family and my son’s family all at my home. What a blessing to have them all under one roof for even a short time. It is hard having half of my little family live so far away. I know there are many of you that experience the same thing – missing your loved ones who live afar. So wonderful to have them home for a time, but then you must say good-bye again and watch them drive away. I know it is supposed to be the natural way of life, that your children grow up and leave home. But, I just can’t get used to not having them near me.

VENITE

I apologize to Coronado Baptist Church, we ran the wrong time of the Sunday, December 11 performance in their ad. Please see the corrected time on the ad at the top of the cover page of this issue and online. The Sunday performance will be at 6:00 pm not 7:30. I apologize for any inconvenience to those who may have planned their schedule around the incorrect time. Please be sure to make other arrangements. Don’t miss this wonderful presentation. If you’ve never seen it – be sure to make it this year. If you have, you know it is a blessing year after year so go again!

CHALLENGE

Again, I am requesting that all our readers take to heart the dire need of children in an orphanage in Juarez. Rescue Ministries of Mexico has extended their Fall Food Drive due to low donations. Please help us help these children. This is my challenge – if every person that reads this paper would give at least one item – the orphanage would be set. However, we know by statistics for pretty much everything in life, that 20% of the people do 80% of the work, or the donating. So, PLEASE to the 20% of you who have a heart for this type of giving – donate at least one item and CHALLENGE your family, friends, co-workers, church family, etc. to do the same. None of us can do it all on our own, BUT, if we all did a little – it would help a great deal. If you don’t wish to shop for any of the items on the list below, feel free to drop off or mail in a monetary donation to: Rescue Ministries of Mexico offices at 1420 Bessemer, El Paso, TX 79936. RMM is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit so all donations are tax deductible. If you drop off any items at the office from the list, or new / gently used clothing, household items, toys, etc. you will be given a receipt (with value of donation if you wish) for your tax records.

Items most needed: grocery items, lunch size peanut butter & jelly, applesauce, fruit, etc., cleaning supplies and hygiene items at any of the five current locations:  Golden Corral, 4610 Woodrow Bean (NE), Great American, 701 S. Mesa Hills (W), Inni Heart Eatery/La Tierra Café, 1731 Montana Ave. (C), or Rescue Ministries offices, 1420 Bessemer (E).

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for all the ways that You bless us. So many blessings that many don’t recognize each day. We are blessed to live in the U.S.A. A country where we have more freedoms than in any other. A land where we are free to worship You openly. Most of us are blessed with family, friends, warm homes, all the food we need, jobs, cars, clothes – all we need. Not everyone is so blessed, and Father I lift all those to You and pray that their needs be met. Provide all that they need. And I pray they recognize the blessings are from You.

Father, I lift up the Food Drive for RMM and I ask that You place it on the hearts and minds of more than 20% of those reading to donate at least one item, and to challenge all they know to do the same. Help us to be a blessing to the children in the orphanage, that all the needed food and supplies come in to them. We are so blessed, help us to have open hearts to provide even just an item or two to help others.

Father, I lift up my son, Shawne. Give him good news for his birthday. You know of all the doctor appointments he’s had the past few months. Help them to determine the cause of his dramatic 40-pound weight loss in just a couple months. Please let them determine the cause, and proper treatment, and news that he will be fine. I love him and can’t bear anything to be wrong, and I know You love him even more than I do. Please Lord touch his body, heal whatever has caused this. And I pray he will give You all the glory and praise. I know I will.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone! I hope you all have special people to be with to share a day of gratitude and thanksgiving. I miss the days when my family got together with our big extended family for holidays. But, I am thankful that my daughter and her family will get to come home for a week for Thanksgiving, and my son and his family live here – so my immediate family will all get to be together. I am so grateful for every chance we are all together.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY to my brother, Max McCullough, Greenup, IL (Nov. 18). Hope it was a special day for you! I expect to see pics on Facebook!

FOOD DRIVE

The Rescue Ministries of Mexico (RMM) Annual Fall Food Drive continues. RMM operates an orphanage, Vino, Trigo y Aceite, teen shelter, elderly shelter and men’s rehabilitation center in Juarez.  RMM is a non-profit that strives to give the best care possible to those who can’t care for themselves.  On their behalf, I am asking our readers to help in any way possible. You can drop grocery items, lunch size peanut butter & jelly, applesauce, fruit, etc., cleaning supplies and hygiene items at any of the five current locations:  Golden Corral, 4610 Woodrow Bean (NE), Great American, 701 S. Mesa Hills (W), inni Heart Café/La Tierra Café, 1731 Montana Ave. (C), or Rescue Ministries offices, 1420 Bessemer (E). If you prefer you can drop off or mail a check to the office address. All donations are tax deductible.  You can also donate new or gently used clothing, household items, etc. If you can’t drop them off, call the office at (915) 599-8707.

****

Precious Heavenly Father,

Thank You for all the blessings You bestow upon us. Your love, mercy and grace is so much more than we deserve. Help each of us to be grateful always for all You do – not just at Thanksgiving.

I lift up the Food Drive for Rescue Ministries Father and I ask that You lead people to donate what they can to help the ministry supply the needs for all those they have taken responsibility for. Not one of us can do everything to help – BUT – we can all do something. If every reader would give even just one item – the ministry would be greatly blessed. Bless those who donate items or monetarily, and bless RMM for the work they do, showing and sharing Christ’s love in all they do.

In Jesus’ Name,

I wish our political races could be run based solely on candidate policies, platforms, beliefs, etc. I don’t see the need for mud-slinging and hateful banter. But, this is often the case. This has been an especially hard one to endure. So much so that many registered voters have said they will choose to not vote.

As hard as it is at times, we need to follow the candidates, research, and take advantage of one of our rights as a U.S. citizens and vote. It shouldn’t be done willy nilly. If you follow the debates, or do any amount of research on the candidates it won’t take long to determine which candidate most closely matches your viewpoints on issues, and / or World View.

It isn’t easy, and most won’t ever fully and totally agree with either candidate. It is often said we must pick the lessor of two evils, which is so sad. Determine what issues are most important for you. It’s amazing that even as Christian this can vary. Don’t get me wrong, we all have the right to our own opinion, and I do not condemn anyone for theirs – and I wish to not be condemned for mine.

Even before my walk with the Lord was solid, when I was young and not thinking politically, I knew my values and what was important to me. Protecting the family as God intended it, is highly important. This means as is stated Biblically that marriage is between one man and one woman. It is of utter importance to protect the sanctity of human life. And, is extremely important to protect our religious freedoms. It took years to understand how important the selections for Supreme Court are. The wrong appointments now – will totally change the before mentioned things important to most Christians.

Determine the issues of importance to you, take it to the Lord for guidance,– and then vote your conscience.  Although this issue is dated November 10 it prints and begins distributing on the 4, so there is still time, now GO – OUT – AND – VOTE !!

Other locations may soon be added and I will continue to post to make you aware. Or, if you are willing to be a collection site call (915) 599-8707. Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for Your many blessings. Forgive us for taking anything for granted. We know all things are given by You. Thank You for being always by our side, willing to help in our time of need and trials.

Father I lift up all who are grieving loss of a loved one, or suffering with health, financial and relationship issues. Father work in these situations and help them to feel Your presence. Fill each with peace and build their faith and ability to trust in and depend upon You for all their needs.

Father I lift up the Food and Supply Drive and pray that many who read this will come forward and help. If each person brought even just one item – they would be doing very well! Bless the gift and bless the giver. Bless the children and those who run this ministry.

Last but not least Father, I lift up the election. Days after this paper hits the streets it will be done and over with and we will know the outcome. Father, I pray Your will be done. I pray our next President will seek Your will, and follow Your guidance.

So hard to believe, but here we are at the last issue of October – which means The Messenger is celebrating its Nine Year Anniversary!! A huge THANK YOU goes out to all who have supported this work in any way. Many of you have been on board praying for this ministry and for me personally – and I am incredibly grateful. Knowing that there are others out there praying is what helps keep me going and the toughest of days. Another huge THANK YOU to all who are and have supported the paper through their advertising dollars. These supporters are necessary to keep going, and were it not for God using you to support the ministry it would not be here. Also, THANK YOU to all the readers who faithfully pick up each issue or visit the site to read online. If there weren’t interested readers in the communities we serve – there would be no need to publish.

I pray the Lord blesses each and every one of you. I am grateful for each of you. And I ask for your continued prayers and support as we embark on yet another year.

 WRITE YOUR STORY

A few weeks ago at church Pastor Larry Lamb spoke about the importance of writing our story, documenting in writing (handwritten or typed) our story of how we came to faith in Christ, those who were instrumental in leading us towards Christ, and how Jesus changed our lives. Also of importance – describing times in our lives we struggled for one reason or another, and how we remained faithful, and how God worked it all out for good, etc.

Visit  www.ceilovista.org and watch and listen to the full message – and that will surely prompt you to action!

I think this would be a great legacy to leave behind for our kids, grandkids, and future generations. Perhaps our story, read one day by a lost relative will be a stepping stone in leading them to Christ. We could play a part in their walk with the Lord even after we are gone from this earth.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for all You have done to carry us through. When we think we can’t go on, You are there to lift us up and carry us through. Thank You for using me in this manner to serve You for the past nine years. I pray You will continue to use The Messenger to bless people, Christians as well as the unsaved. I pray there is always at least one thing that speaks to their hearts and causes them to draw nearer to You.

Father, I lift up the upcoming election to You. By the time of the next issue of this paper we will know the results. Father, we know regardless of who is in office You are in control. We pray Lord that the person elected will seek Your will and turn this country around for good.

In Jesus’ Name,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY – I feel awful I failed to wish my grandkids, Kelsey and Aiden a Happy Birthday in my column in the last issue. I ran their birthday ad, but failed to mention here. Aiden (Sept. 17) and Kelsey (Sept. 21) – I wish I could have been with you to celebrate your birthdays. I miss you and I love you very much! I enjoyed talking on the phone and getting to SKYPE with you at least.

BIG THINGS – You may remember three years or so ago I wrote about Big things in my small home town of Casey, Illinois. At that time, a local business owner hoping to draw attention to and boost the economy in Casey had created three “World’s Largest” items and placed them around town to draw tourists to town. I had a little bit of time while I was home to scout about around town to visit other things he’s created since then. There wasn’t time to complete the story for this issue – but plan to check it out in the next issue, dated October 27.

PRECIOUS HEAVENLY FATHER –

Thank You Father for all You have done and continue to do for each one of us. Thank You again for my Pastor and church, CVC, for making it possible for my trip to Illinois to be with my Mom. Thank You that I got to watch and be part of her progress towards healing, and that she has continued to make great strides toward healing since I left. Thank You for the opportunity to catch up with extended family and friends while I was back home, and ability to attend church while there.

I lift up my Mom, Father and ask that You touch her body and heal her completely. Help her to follow doctor orders and to take it easy, rest when she should, work hard during therapy when she should – and to be still and know that You are God, and You will heal in Your time. I am thankful she is a believer, and trusts in You completely for everything. Help me Father to trust her in Your hands. It was so hard to see her in pain, and to leave her.

Thank You Father for the blessings You have poured on me recently. Words aren’t enough, but I know that You know my heart and know how grateful I am.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

It is said often that we are all at times just one phone call away from devastation. A death, serious accident, illness, or some other such tragedy or hardship that will “rock our world” and bring us to our knees.

Last week I received one such call. My Mom had been taken by ambulance to the hospital. Naturally, for me I panicked and feared we were going to lose her. This has always been one of my biggest fears since moving to El Paso 17 years ago and being 1500 miles from my family. Once my brother finished relaying the incident, although it was not life threatening, it was serious. My Mom had fallen and broken her pelvis. She was in the hospital for 2 ½ days and since she could not move to get herself out of bed, or walk, etc., she was transported to a Nursing Home facility for her rehab and help in caring for her until she is in a position to return to her home.

Anything that happens to my Mom is devastating to me. Even more so these past years since I am no longer in any financial position to make the trip home. Upon hearing the news my heart was breaking and I hated that I couldn’t be there with and for her – yet again. Over these past years she’s been in the hospital for other things, but my family has waited to inform me so that I would not feel so bad, knowing there was nothing I could do to get there. All I could do was pray. And, ask others to pray. I put out a prayer request to all the Pastors on my list for the Ask Christian Leaders questions that I have email addresses for. Through this, I got an incredible blessing. My Pastor arranged through my church to bless me with tickets to get home, and to be with my Mom! It was hoped that I could leave right away – but…with no one to take over responsibilities of the paper for me, I have to wait until this issue is completed, printed and distributed. Although I would have loved to have gone right away, it is still such a blessing to my soul to know I will be with her soon and can see with my own eyes that she will be OK. And, blessing as well that someone cared enough to make this possible, that just blows my mind! So, Thanks Pastor Larry Lamb and Cielo Vista Church for making this possible. Words alone can’t express how grateful I am for your love, concern and generosity.

I would appreciate your prayers for my Mom, if you feel led to do so. I know many of our loyal readers are great prayer warriors. Please pray for complete healing and alleviation of pain. Pray that her rehab will go quickly and smoothly and that she will be able to return to her home soon. I am thankful that Mom is a strong believer, and is fully placing her trust in the Lord to return her to full health. Although there is pain, she is in positive spirit and praising the Lord, stating, “God is good all the time, and all the time God is good,” each time I speak with her on the phone.  If you would like to bless her with Get Well Wishes and words of encouragement, these can be sent to:  C/O Virginia June McCullough, Heartland Nursing Center, Room 46-B, 410 N.W. 3 Street, Casey, IL 62420.

Precious Heavenly Father

Thank You for all You do for us. Thank You for always knowing what is best for us, even if we don’t ourselves. Thank You for Your love and protection over us and our lives.

I lift up my Mom, Lord and I thank You that although what happened isn’t good, it could have been so much worse. I ask Father that You touch Mom’s body and that You heal her completely and return her to 100% of her abilities so she can continue to enjoy the active lifestyle she is accustom to. I ask Lord that You alleviate all pain, even as I write this – make it disappear and not return so that she can participate easily in the rehab needed. I am thankful Father that she is one of Your true believers and is trusting in You for healing, and continuing to lift up Praises to Your name. Bless her now and always, help her to feel Your loving, nurturing arms around her helping her through each grueling physical therapy session.

I ask Father for safe travelling mercies for my flight there and back home. Help me Lord to complete all the work needed done prior to my leaving so that I will not feel stressed or worried over it while there. Please bless my time with Mom, I pray I will be a help while I am there. Bless time spent with my siblings as well as we have had far too little over the 17 years I’ve lived away from them.

I lift up The Messenger and ask Father for Your leading, for wisdom. Please show me Lord other possible revenue streams that could be utilized to help support this ministry since presently it is so difficult to find advertisers who are in a position or willing to do so. People are worried about the economy, the Presidential election, etc. I’m told they feel the paper should continue, want it to be available, but there is only so much I can do without enough financial support. I can’t do it alone, I need and want You by my side. I know if it be Your will, You will provide a way. Speak to the hearts and minds of business owners, church leaders, and those of influence that You feel would be good support for this ministry, and that the readers of this paper would benefit them.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

As I work on this issue we are quickly approaching the Anniversary of 9/11. It is hard to believe it has been 15 years since that dreadful day that anyone old enough to know what was going on – will never forget. We’ll never forget where we were or what we were doing when it came on the news. And we must never forget those who lost their lives, were injured – and the first responders who risked their lives to save others.

9/11 seems to have been the beginning of just one terrorist organization and act after another. They all hate America and seek to destroy her. May God bless our soldiers and all military personnel that risk their lives to protect this great country that we love.

There will be special remembrance services on 9/11 (see info in article on this page) at the Old Glory Memorial on the Northeast at Diana and 54. If at all possible, if you live locally – plan to attend at least one. The early morning won’t be an option for most of us since it is same time as our church services. If that is the case for you, I hope you can make it to the evening service.

Since the last issue all students should now be back in school. It’s amazing how quickly time goes by. This hit home when school began and my precious Kelsey girl entered 6th grade. She has now switched buildings and is grouped with 7th & 8th graders. When I was in school in Illinois 6th grade was still part of elementary, actually middle school which was 4th, 5th and 6th. For Kelsey, while it is called middle school it runs like Junior High did for me. She has seven teachers and goes classroom to classroom and has a locker, etc.  It just doesn’t seem she should be old enough yet to experience this. I miss her as the little girl bouncing on my knee.

I’m sure many of you reading are experiencing the same feelings with children going back to school, or grandchildren as in my case. We must remember to keep all the children in prayer. For protection while in school, and on their way to and from school.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for all You are for us. You’re our Abba Father (daddy), Provider, Great Physician – just to name a few. Thank You for all You do for us, while none of us deserve a thing You do. Thank You for Your forgiveness and accepting us just as we are, flaws and all – and helping us to change the things You need us to. Thank You for Your unconditional love and gift of Salvation.

Father I lift up those who were injured and still deal with affects from 9/11. I lift up the families of those who lost their lives. I lift up all the first responders and people who helped in any way. Lord I pray for comfort for all those living and dealing with memories of what happened that day, what was lost, who was lost. Many are still in pain and grieving, I pray that You bring them peace that comes only from You, and help them to feel Your presence surrounding them.

Father I lift up all school children everywhere as they have recently entered a new school year. Lord, protect them all on their way to and from school, whether they walk, take a bus, are taken by parents. Protect them while at school, in the class rooms, hallways, lunch rooms, on the grounds. Don’t allow bullying or harmful acts. I pray Father that any who would have thoughts of doing such things to the children will be convicted right away and turn from doing evil. Father we know that the effects of bullying can and most often does stay with people even through adulthood. Many who are bullied turn into bullies. Please Lord stop this cycle and help our young people to turn around and desire only to be kind to one another. Help us as adults to remember to pray for the children in our lives every day, for protection, and ability to learn all they can while at school, and to grow up knowing You and serving You.

Father I lift up The Messenger. You know the situation. I need Your help locating new clients and / or returning clients that will be willing and able to support this ministry. Several have fallen out over the past few months due to finances or changing company budgets, making it more and more difficult to cover expenses. I ask often if I am to continue, and thus far don’t feel Your release of this work. So, Father to keep this going there has to be supporters: churches, or individuals that will utilize advertising to promote their services, events, Bible studies. And businesses to advertise what they have to offer, or services they provide. I pray blessings on all who currently advertise and ask Father that You will cause their business or organization to prosper. Please bless their businesses, families, health and finances.

I pray blessings on all who read any part of these pages Lord. Speak to their hearts as they read and draw those who are lost to Yourself, and those who have strayed – cause them to return to a relationship with You.

I love You Lord and thank You for these years of using me in service to You in this way. Help me, lead me, guide me – walk beside me each day and help me to turn this around and continue to reach our communities for You.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

Each evening when I get home and have a chance I’ve taken the opportunity to watch what I can of the Olympics. I haven’t gotten to watch as much as I’d like but some. My favorite is the gymnastics and have gotten to see quite a bit of that. I’ve also enjoyed watching several of the swimming races. I have been so thrilled to see the U.S. win so many medals. What I’ve seen of the ceremonies they’ve all been very gracious. They’ve represented the United States well.

From what little I’ve heard it seems things went better than what was thought in Rio. There had been so much talk about how awful it would be there. But, unless I just haven’t heard it – it appears all was well. Praise God our people are safe. They’ve done us proud!

****

Precious Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the beautiful weather we’ve had lately, the rain that finally hit at my house and the lower temps. Thank You for all You do for and provide for us.

Father I lift up the Marquez family. It’s been a year since You called Sarah home and the family is still grieving and struggling financially. Father I pray You comfort them and help them to feel Your presence surrounding them. Father help Courtney to find a great job with benefits, and Larry to be able to find some form of work he can do even with his illness – so that they can support their family. Be with Jenny, help her to make new friends and help her during this school year. She misses her big sister so much.

I lift up The Messenger Father and ask that You put it on the hearts and minds of business owners to support this ministry. I pray that You bless all those who have advertised in the past, who are currently – and ask that they experience increase in their businesses because of their support of this work. Bless their health, families and relationships. Help them to prosper, and in their prosperity – cause them to want to support this ministry more, or again if they no longer do. Things are getting tougher all the time for many of those who once advertised or who had planned to. Many are waiting to see what happens with the election before spending money on advertising. Father I pray that You will help them with finances so that they can come on board and support this ministry so that we can continue to reach the communities we serve. Things are so difficult financially Lord, I am depending on and trusting in You to provide. I know that You can work miracles still today, and ask that You do so and provide for this ministry and for my home. I can’t do this alone, I need You in it with me, beside me all the way. Please give me strength and wisdom, guide and lead me.

In Jesus’ Name,

For weeks now we continue to hear news of Police Officers being gunned down. It’s as if after the ambush in Dallas it has given many the idea to play copy-cat. It’s so sad that there are people in this world that feel a need to massacre anyone – especially, to gun down those who are sworn to serve and protect our cities, our communities. We need to do what we can to assure that the Officers in our community know that we appreciate all they do, and endure to keep our community safe.

When last I visited my daughter in the Houston area she delivered donuts to the Police station nearest her home, and informed me that she did this often with cookies, donuts, etc. We can all do similar things here. Or, just as we do with our local military personnel when we see them – we can thank the Police Officers for their service. For all our prayer warriors, I’m sure if you offer to say a quick prayer with and for them, they will allow it and appreciate it. And most importantly, keep the Officers in your community, state and our nation in your prayers as often as you are reminded of it. Try this – every time you see one in uniform, or even a police cruiser – take a moment to lift them up to our Lord.

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for all You do for us. None are worthy of Your love, mercy, grace or Salvation, yet You give it all so freely to those who will accept it, and You. I am grateful that in this world of unending trials and heartaches that at least we can rest assured that You alone are in control and the Master of all things.

Father I lift up all the Police Officers, Border Patrol, and Military men and women and ask that You protect them on and off duty each and every day. I pray that You bless them for their willingness to serve in the manner they’ve chosen. Bless their families and protect them as well. I pray Lord that You will thwart the plans of evil to act against those who work to protect our communities, border, and nation. Protect us from the evil preying on humanity.

Humble each one of us, help us to be mindful of not alone lifting our burdens and concerns to You – but our praise and worship to and of You also.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

Man have we ever been under attack. In a matter of weeks police officers ambushed and five killed in Dallas; a terrorist drives a truck into a large crowd in Nice, France and kills 85; more police officers gunned down in Baton Rouge, three killed. Our nation is suffering. Many question, “Why?”  We can’t fathom how anyone could do these horrendous things so willingly to harm others. But, look back over the years – God has been taken out of our schools and most all of daily public life. People want God out of public life – yet blame Him when bad things happen.

God doesn’t make these horrible things happen, however, he allows them. I admit I also can’t understand how He can allow such things, BUT – I am human, He alone is God. As hard as it is, I have to trust Him, and know that He is the only all powerful, all knowing, all loving God. In Biblical times horrible things happened, and many times they were allowed in the hopes that the people would turn back to the Lord. Perhaps that is why things are happening now.

Our nation is so far from the Lord – we MUST turn back. We MUST put our faith and trust in Him once again. We MUST allow Him back in our schools, in all of public life. We MUST humble ourselves and pray, turn from our wicked way – and then He may heal our land. I pray that we all will make more time to pray, to seek the Lord’s will, to heed His call, to ask forgiveness and request healing for our land.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for being our Omnipotent, Omnipresent, all loving Savior. Thank You for all You have done and continue to do for me, my family, this ministry.

I lift up the family members and friends of those killed in Dallas, Nice, and Baton Rouge. Comfort them like only You are able as they grieve and face life without their loved ones. I lift up also all those injured during these attacks, and pray for their quick and full recovery from injuries obtained. I pray for everyone living in the communities where these attacks occurred. In all these situations, bring all peace and healing, and help them to not live in fear each day.

Father I lift up police officers everywhere and ask that You put a shield of protection surrounding them 24/7. These are men and women who take on the responsibility of protecting us and they now find themselves practically at war with those they vow to protect. Bless them for their service to our communities, and bring peace and calm to their families as they worry over them each time they are on the streets.

I lift up our Nation Father, and I ask that You heal our land. Heal our people, help us to get back to our roots – back to our loving relationships with You, our Savior and Lord. Father I pray You will interact and interrupt the plans of the evil plans and plots against our Nation and others. Protect our Nation and our allies against ISIS and all other evil that comes against us. I pray all our people will turn from our wicked ways, will seek You and heed Your call. Help us to seek Your wisdom and will at all times. Lead us Lord in the way we should go.

Father, I pray for Your guidance for all voters in the upcoming election. Come November we will once again be choosing who will lead our country for the next four years. Lord I ask that You speak to all voters and show them the best candidate to choose at this time. We MUST get it right, and turn our country around. I pray Father that You will place the person in charge that will seek Your guidance and will govern our country in a way pleasing and honoring to You.

Lastly Father I lift up The Messenger. I ask that You place it in the hearts and minds of Christian business owners to support this ministry through their advertising dollars. Lead me to those who will be interested in supporting, as well as would benefit from such advertising. Bless all those who currently advertise for their faithful support of this ministry. Bless all who read these pages. Use this paper to speak to readers’ hearts and to help share and show Your love. For those readers who have fallen away from their walk with You, or those who have yet to accept You – I pray they find things amongst these pages that will lead them to You, and a decision of turning their heart over to You. Father I am depending on You to provide all the needs of this ministry. Please work out the current problems with my laptop and internet issues that are making it so difficult to do my work.

I trust all had a safe and happy July fourth. I had a wonderful couple of weeks surrounding the 4th. My daughter Jenna, son-in-law Andrew and grandkids Kelsey, Jacob and Aiden drove in from the Houston area on the 25th and stayed until the 3rd. My mom June, sister Terri, and brother Max and sister-in-law Beth flew in from Illinois on the 29th and stayed until the 5. My son Shawne got married on the 2nd so was wonderful to have so much family here to be there for him.

We had a wonderful time catching up, chatting as well as running around like crazy. My brother and his wife had never been to El Paso so wanted to get around and see as much as was possible. One thing we did that even after living here now for 17 years come the 29th of this month – we went to Wyler Aerial Tram. That was an interesting activity. I had never thought I would want to go up in the Tram, but since everyone else was willing to go, I figured why not?!

I have a LOT of Thank You’s I feel I have to express. Thanks to Andrew for all the “honey do’s” he did around my house for me: got vent hooked up to my dryer, put my gas grill together that has been in the box since a year ago in May, paid for a week-long rental car – a 2016 Hyundai Sante Fe so that I could drive my Illinois family around in style. To Jenna and Andrew for coming to see me and bringing my grandbabies, for all the help they gave on groceries, money left for utilities and so many other things I can’t recall at the moment – but there was a ton! Thanks to my Illinois family for visiting me, for help with groceries and gas in the SUV, money left to help with whatever. To Shawne for helping us get a great deal on the car rental and taking time off work at this time so he could share time with all the family as well – and for putting on such a wonderful wedding for himself and his bride! To my brother Max for fixing my kitchen table that has been broken for four years! To all of you – I know there is SO much more – but THANKS to you all for everything – and helping me out during this horrible financial state I am in.

Thanks also to my church and the two Bob’s there that have been working with me. I put in a prayer request a few weeks ago just requesting others join me in prayer for the financial needs of the business and myself personally – and for needs for my car, repairs needed to make it pass inspection and be safe. Much to my surprise I was contacted shortly after, not only were they praying – but they offered assistance with the car repairs!  Thanks so much, you know who you are. I haven’t had time to ask if it was OK to print names, so figure it best to leave as is.

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You SO much for providing safe traveling mercies for all my family both here and back to their respective homes. Thank You for the time we were able to share, and have so many of us all together for the first time in years. Bless each one of them for the many ways they helped me during their time here.

Thank You also for the two Bob’s and my church for helping with car repairs so that my car will pass inspection, and air conditioner is running again – this was a HUGE blessing. Bless these men, and my church for being such a blessing to me.

Father I lift up all who pick up this paper and pray they always find at least one thing in its pages that will speak to their hearts, and bring blessings upon them. I pray for those who do not yet know You or have fallen away from their walk with You. Help them to find their way back to You or to You for the first time.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY (June 11) to my son-in-law, Andrew Foix and (June 12) to my daughter, Jenna Foix! Hope you both enjoy your days, wish I could be there to share and celebrate them with you! But … you will be here in less than a month, so will see you soon!

****

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the Dad’s reading. This will hit you early, but there won’t be another issue prior. I pray you will be able to spend at least part of the day with your children, celebrating and sharing memories. I would LOVE to be able to spend the day with my Daddy. He’s been gone 50 years; I have missed out on so much. People are so wrong when they say you get over the loss of a loved one. While it is true that the grief and pain doesn’t hurt as much after all these years – it is still there, daily. There is always an ache and longing to have that person to share life with. So, love on your daddy and enjoy all the time you can with him. To mine – I love and miss you Daddy, every day, but I know that You are safe in the presence of Jesus and experiencing better than life on earth.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for all You have done and continue to do for us. We are not worthy, yet You pour blessings on us.

I lift up all the Fathers, Lord and ask that You pour blessings on them. May they be the strong, loving, guiding hand in their children’s while they are young – and role model men of God – to them when they are adults. Help them to raise their children up to love You and desire to serve You. Help them to be the head of their households, and to love their families second only to You, Lord.

Bless all those who read these pages, and those who financially support this ministry. Bless their families, relationships, health and finances. Those with businesses I ask that You cause them to prosper, and that they will know this is blessing from You for their support of this ministry. I pray the readers will feel led to utilize the businesses who are gracious enough to support this paper – whenever it is possible.

I lift up The Messenger Father, I ask that You guide me to new and past clients that are willing and able to financially support Your Work through this paper via their advertising dollars.

Father I lift up all those who have not yet accepted You, but who are regular readers of this paper. Lord I ask that You speak to them and give them a special touch as they read and that they will be drawn to You, seek You, and begin their relationship and walk with You, even the day they read this!

Thank You Lord for allowing me to be a part of Your work, to play even a small part in furthering Your Kingdom.

In Jesus’ Name,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the 26th to my sister, Terri Durham, in Rantoul, IL. Hope it’s a great day for you, wish I could be there. But, at least I will be seeing you fairly soon!

I am SO excited! The end of June my Mom, sister Terri, brother Max and wife Beth are all coming from Illinois for a visit! I haven’t seen them in about four years, since the last time I went to Illinois. Except Terri flew out here about three years ago. Days prior to them all flying in, my daughter, Jenna and family are coming in from the Houston area. My son, Shawne and family lives here and he is actually going to have some time off during their time here. So – this will be a wonderful time of a mini family reunion. Please join me in praying for safe travels for everyone, and a wonderful time of reunion for us all.

Prayer Requests:

The Election and the candidates

The Messenger

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You Lord for who You are for every one of us. Thank You for all You do, and how You provide for and care for us. Thank You for always being there for us 24/7 day in and day out that we can come to You and know that You are willing and available to listen.

Father I lift up Javier and ask that You comfort him as he prepares for this surgery. Be with the doctors, nurses, surgeons and all who will work with him. Guide them and give them wisdom as they go through this surgery and following treatment and help them to make the best decisions possible for his care. May this surgery be just what is needed to finally rid him of all cancer.

I lift up Lois as she endures this stage of life dealing with this condition. Be with all the doctors that work with her and help them to find the best treatment possible to help her live as normal of life as possible. I lift up her family as they all embark on this time of caring for her.

I continue to lift up the young mom of three who has Scleroderma. Last I heard the meds and treatment plan of Mayo Clinic was beginning to help her. Father please continue to work in this situation and bring about full restoration and function of her organs.

Father I ask in all these medical issues that You bring them all peace, comfort them and their loved ones as they go through all that comes with each of these medical conditions. Give them all the ability to place it in Your hands, and to trust in You to do what is best for each of them. Most importantly, to then give You all the glory for all You have done and will do for them.

Father I lift up the election. Help us Lord, all who vote to make wise, informed decisions. I lift up the candidates and ask that they listen for Your voice and heed Your call. Seems most people are not happy with any of the possibilities we have left to choose from. We are concerned and worried for our country Lord – we feel the best country on earth. We know that You created it and that You love it more than we do. Help us Father to humble ourselves, and pray, and strive to get this country back to what it once was. We know that it is never too late for anyone to come to You and accept Your saving grace of Salvation. I pray that happens for each of those left in the race so that we can be assured whoever wins the battle will lean on You to guide them in the way to lead this country back to honor and the great Nation it once was.

I ask protection of all our children and women everywhere in light of this “Transgender bathroom issue”. So many things can go wrong with this. People shouldn’t have to live in fear over themselves or their children and their need to use the restroom. Father bring bold, godly men and women forward to fight this order every step of the way and to get it overturned so that there is no need for fear.

I lift up The Messenger Father and ask that You lead me, guide me to what it is that You would have me do to help the finances come in to keep things going. Bring many new clients and past clients back to support the work to reach our communities for You. Bless all who participate and support it currently and have in the past. Bless all those who read it, speak to their hearts and draw them to a closer relationship with Yourself. For those who don’t know You, but that read this on a regular basis, may they read something that penetrates their hearts this day and this be the day they finally come to You and begin a relationship with You.

Praise Report:

Mrs. Pollock (El Paso) – Follow up appointment revealed good news on test results. Thank you for your prayers!

Prayer Requests:

(El Paso) 34-year-old mom of three with rare condition of Scleroderma, which has caused Pulmonary Fibrosis. These conditions cause many issues of varying degrees, currently her lung capacity is at 55%. She began doctoring through Mayo Clinic in Phoenix a short time ago and currently on meds / treatment plan that is beginning to help.

The Messenger – Pray that many advertisers will come forward. Much needed are those who can and will pay for advertising on time, with a willingness and desire to support this ministry. Pray that all who read the paper will be blessed by something they read in each issue. Pray that we can continue to reach those who don’t know Jesus yet; those who have fallen away; as well as the faithful believers. Many read these pages that for one reason or another won’t step in a church. By sharing God’s love in this manner through this ministry – we are able to reach them, giving the Lord the opportunity to touch their hearts and minds through things they read. In this way, we can and are helping to enlarge His Kingdom. We are looking for more who want to share in this opportunity. By supporting The Messenger through your advertising dollars – YOU are on board helping to reach people for Christ. Please, won’t you climb aboard?

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You for always being there for us when we need You. When we call on You, we never get a busy signal! You are available for us any time day or night, and want to hear our praises, our fears, and needs. Thank You for all You do and provide for each of us.

Thank You Lord for this great Praise report for Mrs. Pollock! Going in for such tests results are frightening for not only the patient but their loved ones as well. Fill them all with peace and thankfulness as they delight in the great work of Your hands. I continue to lift up Mr. Pollock and ask for continued healing and recovery from his surgery.

Father I lift up this young mom I learned of just yesterday. She is experiencing such difficult times of health, suffering in many ways. We don’t understand how such rare, bizarre things can happen at all, especially to those so young. But we do know, Lord that YOU are the Great Physician. Nothing happens that You aren’t aware of. I think of all the suffering that You allowed your servant Job to experience. Horrible, unimaginable pain – physically, mentally, financially, as well as the loss of children. Yet in the end, You brought him through it and all illness and pain was gone. You replaced all that was lost with even more. We know the Bible is Your inerrant Word, so we can believe it to be true. We know that if you could and would do it for Job, You can do it for any of us. I pray Father that You place Your loving arms of protection around this mom, and that You give her the healing touch of Your hand. We know Father that there are times we are allowed to suffer, because the testimony of our faithfulness through it all is important for the world to see. Just as was with Job. Help her Father to endure all she must all while keeping her focus on You, believing and trusting in the miracle that You alone can provide. Work in and through all the medical professionals that work with her. Give them all wisdom and compassion and help any meds and treatment they give to help her overcome both of these illnesses. Do not allow these illnesses to progress or worsen, instead Father I ask that at this very moment You cause it to begin to lessen, for her body to heal. We know Father that everything is all according to Your will and we pray that it be Your will that she be healed and restored to complete health.

I lift up her husband, children, other family members and friends. Help her husband as caregiver, build him up, give him rest. Help him as her advocate with the doctors to be confident in their decisions. Give him strength as he takes care of his wife, his family – along with keeping their business running. Comfort all of the family, Father bring peace to their hearts and soul – help them to all lean on, depend on, and trust in You.

I lift up The Messenger, Father and ask for Your provision for finances. Send or lead me to business owners, church or organization leaders that have a desire to support this ministry and share in reaching others for You. Bless all who have in the past, are currently, and will in the future! Bless their families, their health, their finances and their relationships.

Please join in lifting up in prayer: The Foix Family, Madison McCullough, Mr. & Mrs. Pollock, and The Messenger.

Feel free to send your prayer requests to media4him@yahoo.com if you would like our readers to join with you in prayer.

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You Father for who You are to and for us. Our Abba Father, the One who wraps us in unconditional love; who is there for and with us 24/7. The One who created us and considers each one beautiful and precious. Regardless of where we come from in life, what we’ve done, how far we’ve turned from Your presence – You continue to love us and call us to You. Thank You Lord for Your mercy and grace; for never turning Your back on me even through the years I turned mine on You. Thank You for saving me, my soul, and for giving me the greatest gift one could ever receive – Your Salvation!

Father I lift up the Foix family (my daughter’s family) as four of the five have been ill with flu like symptoms passing it around one to the other one or two worse than the others. They appear well one day, then back to sick the next. I pray You touch all their bodies and heal them completely and stop the spread of any illness so that life can return to normal. Clear their home of all germs that could linger to cause it to return.

I lift up my youngest grandchild, two-year old Madison who fell hit her face and teeth. A procedure was performed on a front tooth that had been shoved up into the gum and a wire attached to the front to teeth in the hopes to save the teeth. I ask Lord that You cause this to work and save her teeth, and protect her in all her rambunctious endeavors!

I continue to lift up Mr. Pollock who recently had surgery to place a second stint in his heart. He had a few complications afterward, but presently is doing well recovering. Touch his body and heal him completely, help the stint to do its intended job and allow his body to function properly with no more complications.

I now lift up Mrs. Pollock, Lord, who has just developed some medical issues of her own. Tests are being scheduled as I write this. I ask Father that You also touch her body and either have the problem be gone by the time she goes in for tests, or, that You cause it to be something minor that is of no concern and easily treatable. I lift up the Pollock’s children, family and friends as they walk with them through these trying times of ill health.

Father I lift up The Messenger and I ask for Your divine intervention in finances (both business and personal) and leading to new clients that will choose to support this ministry. Please renew my strength and energy. I can’t do this without You and I continue to wear down. Lead me to those who also want to reach others to help grow Your kingdom; to share Your Good News; and the love and light of Christ in us throughout this hurting world. Send financial help so we can continue to do Your work.

Father I thank You once again, now for the ability that we know that we can come to You at any time day or night and lift our cares, burdens, concerns, and requests to You – and You hear us. We never get a busy signal, You always have time for us. You care as much and even more for our loved ones as we do. We know that there is nothing that happens that catches You unaware, or that You don’t allow. It doesn’t always make sense to us, and we have questions – many which won’t be answered or come clear to us until we are with You.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

Seems forever since we met here last. We had an extra week between issues, and with everything going on, it seems much longer. I trust everyone had a blessed Easter. Although we can and should draw nearer to the Lord at all times, it often seems that we do so more during Lent or on Easter. Many more people are invited to church for Easter and Christmas services than at any time in the year. I’m sure many people made a profession of faith during their visit on Easter Sunday – and if you are one of them – CONGRATULATIONS and welcome to the family! We are now brothers and sisters in the Lord. Be sure to get plugged in to a Bible teaching/preaching church. If you don’t have one, purchase a Bible and begin reading and studying God’s Word. If you can’t afford one let the new church you are attending know, sometimes they have some they provide to new Christians. I still have two new Bibles from when we used to do giveaways. If you are a new Christian and can’t afford to buy a Bible I would be willing to get one of these to you.

THANK YOU to my daughter, Jenna and son-in-law, Andrew for surprising me with airline tickets for a trip to visit them in March. If you read the cover story you know one of the highlights was getting to attend the 2016 Rock & Worship Roadshow while it was in the Houston area. It was awesome. I attended the show a few years ago so I could cover it for the paper, but had to attend alone. This one was extra special since I got to share it with my daughter. While the concert was wonderful, the best part of the trip of course was just being with them all again. My grandkids Kelsey, Jacob and Aiden are all growing like weeds. I’ve missed them all so much. We made sure to hit our all-time favorite restaurant, Steak N Shake a couple times and I got to visit their new church, Calvary Chapel. They took me to a really cool amusement type park on the water, but I can’t recall the name of it. And another highlight was Andrew grilling out for a couple evening meals! You just can’t beat cook-out food. Thank you again Foix family for my tickets and allowing me to spend Spring Break with you.

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You Lord for all You are and all You do for Your children. None of us deserve or are worthy of what You provide. But as Your children, You love us and want what is best for us. Thank You for Your unconditional love, mercy and grace. Help each of us to love our neighbors as ourselves, as You have asked. Help us to exude Christ-likeness in all we do.

Father I lift up all the new Christians that heeded Your call during their visit to a church on Easter Sunday. I ask Lord that You help lead them to a church where they will be led and fed through Your Word. I pray Your help and guidance to help keep them on the right path, and their willingness to serve You. Bless them and protect them in their newfound journey of faith.

I lift up Mr. Pollock to You Father. Thank You for smooth surgery on the 6th in El Paso where another stent was placed to help his heart work as it should. Help him in the days, weeks, and months ahead as he recovers. Provide complete and quick healing. I lift up also all his family members as they love him through all of this. Ease their stress and worry as they all lean on You.

I lift up The Messenger Father and ask that You lead me to those who can and will support this ministry. Send others to me that are willing to be faithful in supporting a ministry such as this.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

I don’t know about you, but I really wish that all this election brouhaha didn’t have to take place during Lent. This should be a time of concentrating and meditating on what our Lord did for us on Calvary’s Tree all those years ago. Not hearing all the political backlash that is splashed across all news sources daily – almost hourly it seems these days. Don’t you think?

I can’t believe what a low percentage there is that actually take advantage of their right to vote. So many feel that they are just one person and they can’t change anything – BUT – if all Christians went to the polls and voted their conscience, together we could all make a difference! It is such a nerve wracking time -we want what is best for our city and our country. Please be in constant prayer that we will be victorious and by the time November comes – America will vote in a President that will heed the will of God in leading our great nation. I can’t stand to see what is happening to our nation, I for one certainly hoped for, and want better for my children and grandchildren.

Precious Heavenly Father-

Thank You Lord for everything You are and do for us. Without You we are and have nothing. Nothing happens that You aren’t aware. We know that evil exists because of what we choose to do with our free will. I am grateful that I can rest assured that You are with me in all things, at all times. Thank You Father for loving us so much that You sent Your Son, Jesus to serve as the Ultimate Sacrifice for our sins on the cross.

Father I lift up all of the candidates vying for the position of Commander in Chief, President of our great USA. Father bind up any evil, and falsehood in any of those running that would be used to steer people toward them. Open the eyes of all the voters, give each one of us discernment with extreme clarity as to the true person that makes up each candidate. Don’t allow us to fall for ploys are false promises. Help each voter to wisely decipher the truth that will lead them to the candidate that will most closely follow Your will. Help us to humble ourselves and pray – so that You will heal our wicked land. Forgive us as a nation of our evil, sinful ways. Bring a revival to our land, turn the hearts of all people toward You.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to two of my precious grandkids: Jacob Foix is turning six, and Madison McCullough is turning two. I love you both so much and pray you each have wonderful birthdays!

****

We find ourselves in the thick of all the political debates and craziness. I sure wish that candidates didn’t feel the need to get mean and nasty. I know that it is important for us to keep up on what is going on so that we can better form opinions on each of the candidates and to be able to make a more informed decision when it is time to vote. But, I just get fed up with the way some act and the “colorful” things that get said. How about you? Do you make a point to watch each of the debates and keep up on all that is happening? Have you already made the decision of who you will vote for? Or are you one that has already changed your mind multiple times since it all began?

Where ever it is that you stand on this at the moment, we all have to remember to be in prayer about this as often as possible. We need to pray for God’s guidance on how best to vote, and to pray that the one the Lord feels will best lead our country will be the one that comes to the forefront. We also need to pray that whoever does become our President will make Godly decisions, and turn to the Lord for guidance. These are just a few things we need reminded to pray for.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You Lord for being our Abba Father, for being there for us 24/7. We can call on You at any time day or night and You are always there to listen, comfort and support. Thank You for the unconditional love and forgiveness You give us so freely.

Father I lift up each of the Presidential candidates and pray that they will make decision to cease mud-slinging. I pray that You will bring those to the forefront that would be Your top choice to run this great Nation. And lead each of us to seek Your guidance to lead us to make right decisions when we head to the polls. And once the President has been elected Father, I pray they will have the heart and mind to seek and serve You and to lead the country in a Godly manner.

I lift up my precious grandkids Jacob and Madison – I pray Father that they will be happy and healthy all their lives, and that they grow up to be a great man and woman of God, and live their lives for You.

I lift up all the advertisers that support this ministry, as well as those who have in the past. I ask Lord that You bless their businesses, their families, their relationships and finances. I pray that those who read these pages will utilize the products and services of the advertisers they see here. I am grateful for those who believe in this ministry and want to be part of Your work, by sharing a small part of what You give them to support the ministry. Please bless all those who read the paper and may they always find something within the pages that will bless them and those they share it with.

I lift of The Messenger and ask Father that You lead me in the direction You will for it to go in 2016. I pray Lord for many new advertisers to come on board to assure the continuance and ability to raise revenue needed to cover expense throughout the year. Give me the strength and health needed to continue all that I do.

Thank You Lord for allowing me to serve You in this way.

In Jesus’ Name,

AMEN

HAPPY BIRTHDAY in Heaven to my Grandma Grissom on the 24. I love you G’ma, you are truly missed by all who knew you. You are gone from this earth – but will never be forgotten.

Praise God, Pastor Saeed Abedeni was released from Iranian prison after three and a half years – FINALLY! However, unless reading or watching Christian media you may not be aware, as in secular media for what I have seen thus far, he is not mentioned. They name the American journalist and then just mention “along with others” or something to that affect. None should have been there, all on trumped up charges. But imagine being in Saeed’s position and being charged and imprisoned – solely because of being Christian! We have become so spoiled in America that we forget how truly blessed we are that we have the ability to freely worship our Savior.

****

Please join me in prayer for the needs of The Messenger – for much needed financial supporters/advertisers, and help through the many computer issues bombarding me. I began using a brand new Dell this week that I had on layaway. I am having major issues with it. I don’t know if it is the computer, Windows 10 or just what is wrong. One major thing happening now as I try to put out this issue – it won’t read its own power cord, gives an error code saying to attach the proper one. So, will die and not be usable unless the Lord touches it and fixes whatever is wrong.

****

Precious Heavenly Father –

Thank You Lord for our ability to worship and serve you freely. Help us Father to be more aware and appreciative of this fact, and to take full advantage of our ability to share and witness to others. Thank You that we don’t have to hide our faith, or to worship in secret. Thank You for being with us through all of life’s trials and demands, and through the good times as well.

Thank You Father for the release of our Americans from Iran recently. I pray Lord that You will strengthen each one, and help them all through each process they must go through to return to their previous lives. They will have to overcome many things as will their loved ones. I thank You for their protection through their time behind bars, and thank You in advance for helping them to become healthy again mentally, physically and spiritually. Remind us to continue praying for them as the need is equally great now as before.

Father I lift up all Tom, Debra and Jose who have lost loved ones. Father touch the hearts of all who are experiencing these losses and all those we haven’t heard from. Fill them with Your peace and help them through as they grieve. Help them to feel Your presence each day as You comfort them.

I lift up my friend Linda’s son who was just recently diagnosed with Leukemia and began first round of chemo today. Be with him, his wife and children, parents and all who love him as they begin this journey. It is a battle – but one that You can fight along with him. Strengthen him, help his body to use the treatments to fight off this disease and to come through it as willing testimony to Your faith and healing power.

Father I lift up The Messenger – You know all the needs. Please send willing supporters who can advertise, and then bless them with plenty of new business so they will know they have been blessed by You. I ask even at this moment that You touch these computers that are causing so much grief, and cause at least one of them to work correctly so that we can complete this issue – and then work correctly from this point on so it will not be a fight to do the work needed. Help me to keep my sanity as I fight to use them, and deal with the time it takes to do the simplest of task when they don’t work properly. I know You Father are the Great Physician and that not only can You heal people, but healing a computer is also a task not hard for You to accomplish. I’m trusting in You for favor in this situation.

I love You.

In Jesus Name,

AMEN

Mom Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my mom, June McCullough (on the 14th). Yet another year I say, “I wish I could be there to celebrate with you.” As usual, I can’t be – but I hope that you have a blessed day and incredibly blessed 2016! And hopefully this will be the year that either I can make it to Illinois, or you can make it here – for a visit. I love you and miss you, you are in my thoughts and prayers always.

****

In the last issue I suggested everyone embark on a journey of reading through the Bible in a Year. Many of you already do this each year, while there are others who ask, “If I’ve done it once, and read the whole thing, why do it again?” I remember thinking that also myself many, many years ago when I could never even manage to make it half way through in a year. I will answer in the same way others did for me back then, and now I know it to be true myself: Because each time you do it, you learn more, different things open up to you each time. God will speak to you through the words you read, if you allow Him to.

****

Thank you to the two who sent Christmas cards, one including a gift card in to The Messenger for the Marquez family, who lost 17 year old Sarah to cancer. I have had several ask if they still need help. So, now that Christmas is over – I’d like to put the suggestion out there again. This family is still in need due to high winter utilities, being unemployed, and on top of that trying to get all the funeral expenses paid, and the headstone paid off so that she can have proper recognition at her resting site. If you have it in your heart to help this family send whatever you can to: The Messenger, PO Box 3367, El Paso, TX 79923, and I will continue to get it to them. If you want it to go towards the needs of the family make checks out to Marquez family; if you wish it to go towards help with the funeral expenses/ headstone, make it out to Sharon (grandmother taking care of this).

Prayer Requests:

Debra Fraire (El Paso) Just learned her mother has passed away in Illinois. Services are prolonged to allow all family to arrive. Debra will be travelling on the 13th to Illinois. Pray for safe travels and good weather during her trip there and on return. Pray for the whole family for comfort and peace that only our Lord can provide.

The Messenger – Pray for new and/or returning advertisers to support the ministry.

****

Precious Heavenly Father

Thank You Father for who You are, and for Your unconditional love, mercy and grace. Thank You for sending Your Son as the Ultimate Sacrifice for us all.

Father I lift up Debra and her family, and all her mother’s friends and ask Lord that You surround them with Your presence and love as they go through this time of grieving and loss. Comfort them and fill them with the peace we know that only You can provide at a time such as this.

Father I lift up the Marquez family and ask Lord that You bless this family, make 2016 a better year for them. Help them to see hope and light at the end of the tunnel. Cause them to feel Your presence walking through each day with them. Help them to find employment, and provide more than they ask or seek – shock them with better than they could think or ask for.

I lift up The Messenger Father, and I am SO thankful and grateful for all those who have supported this ministry thus far, bless every one of them. I ask now Father for new as well as previous advertisers to come on board with support for 2016.

I Love You,

In Jesus Name,

AMEN
